Philippians 4:10-13

KEYS TO CONTENTMENT

1.   AVOID COMPARISONS.

“…I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself.” Philippians 4:11b (CSB)

Contentment Killers

  1. I must have what others have.
  2. I must be liked by everyone.
  3. Having more will bring contentment.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.” I Timothy 6:6-8 (CSB)

2.    ADJUST TO CHANGE.

“I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need.” Philippians 4:12 (CSB)

“If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”  Romans 12:18 (CSB)

3.   DRAW ON CHRIST’S POWER.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed - always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” II Corinthians 4:7-11 (NKJV)
