 James 1:19-25

 1.     Receive the Word.

“…humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”  James 1:21 (CSB)

Attitudes For Reception

• Be Quiet

“…Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak…” (vs. 19)

 

•  Be Calm.

   “…and slow to anger” (vs. 19)

 

•  Be Repentant.

“Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent…” (vs. 20)

•  Be Humble.

“…humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (vs. 21)

 2.   Research the Word.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure…More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold.” Psalm 19:7-10 (ESV)

 3.   Respond to the Word.

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25 (CSB)
