FALL READING LIST 2014

I hope everyone at OBC will take advantage of our new library/bookstore.  Christie Floyd is doing an awesome job in leading out in this ministry.  We are able to carry titles that you may not find in a typical for-profit bookstore.  It will give you an opportunity to check out some titles and see if you want to purchase them for your own personal library or for your kindle.

Here are some books that you might check out this fall.

“20 Compelling Evidences that God Exists” by Kenneth Boa and Robert M. Bowmen
This is a really good book that lays out some of the classic arguments for the existence of God and the validity of the Christian faith.  It does not go into great depth on each topic but it gives a good introduction to each subject.

“The Reason For God”  by Timothy Keller
I know I have talked a lot about this book especially during the recent series “Reasons To Believe” but this is an excellent book that gives a defense for the Christian faith.  Keller deals with 12 very relevant and often asked questions by those who are skeptical about the Christian faith.  I like this book because it is a basic book on Christian apologetic s that is very readable.  If you have questions or have friends who are asking questions about Christianity this is a good book to check out.

“The Circle- Maker” by Mark Batterson
This is a book I had heard about for a while but did not read it until recently.  The book really challenged me and fired me up about prayer.  It is a reminder to remain persistent in prayer.  It is a reminder to build your prayer life around the promises of God.  My personal prayer journal is arranged around the promises of God because of this book.

“The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews
This is a second book that I have read by Andrews.  He writes in a very readable fashion and is a great storyteller.  This book is another captivating story built around some important lessons that a man learns when he is facing the darkest time of his life.

Enjoy your reading!
