Mark 8:31-34

 

A Picture of the Biblical Messiah

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we esteemed him not… But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,

and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:4-6 (ESV)

 

“This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again…” John 10:17-18 (CSB)
