Mark: Getting to Know Jesus-Part 7

Mark 2:13-17

1.   Jesus calls _________________ to follow Him, (13-16)

“Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in His presence. It is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.” I Corinthians 1:26-30 (CSB)

2.   Jesus call is to _______________ and _______________. (17)

“Jesus replied to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick.  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32 (CSB)

“The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to Him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes,

feet eager to run to evil, a lying witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up trouble among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19 (CBS)

 3.   Jesus _______________________________. (17)

“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (ESV)

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” II Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
