Mustering Hope

“ ...but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”   1 Peter 3:15 (CSB)

1.  Our hope is grounded in Jesus

“And if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is in vain, and so is your faith.” 1 Corinthians 15:14 (CSB)

“...Because of His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 (CSB)

2.  Our hope is focused on eternity.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18 (CSB)

“The night is nearly over, and the day is near; so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:12 (CSB)

3.  Our hope is shared in community.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:1 (ESV)

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another.” Romans 12:15-16a (CSB)
