100 Year Anniversary

ON THE EVENING OF NOVEMBER 6, 1924, A COUNCIL FROM THE OAK RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH OF SAND SPRINGS AND THE GLENWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH OF TULSA ON THE SAND SPRINGS LINE MET IN SHADY GROVE SCHOOLHOUSE TO ORGANIZE THE SHADY GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH. IN NOVEMBER OF 1926  THE CHURCH HELD ITS FIRST WORSHIP SERVICE IN ITS NEW BUILDING AT BRUNER STATION, 6500 W 4 PL ON FEBRUARY 2, 1931. IN OCTOBER OF 1935 THE CHURCH VOTED BY A LARGE MAJORITY TO CHANGE ITS NAME TO OLIVET BAPTIST CHURCH.  IN 1960 THE CHURCH LEARNED THAT THE KEYSTONE EXPRESSWAY WOULD REQUIRE THEIR PRESENT SIGHT. THE SEARCH WAS ON FOR A NEW PROPERTY WHICH LED THEM TO OUR CURRENT LOCATION. HOLDING ITS FIRST WORSHIP SERVICE AT OUR PRESENT SIGHT IN FEBRUARY 1964, IT HAS BEEN HOME EVER SINCE.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2024 Olivet is celebrating our 100 year anniversary.  Mark Aduddell will be preaching.  Mark is the current pastor at Vintage Church in Edmond, he grew up at Olivet and his dad, Hoyt, pastored here for years.  It will be great to have Mark in the pulpit for this special day.  After the service we will be having lunch and a celebration following with games for young and old, face-painting, inflatables, music by Soul'd Out, a dessert contest, a look at the past one hundred years and great fellowship.

Community Choir will present "REJOICE" on December 15, 16 and 17 at 6:30pm.  Community Choir is a time for people who like to sing to perform together.  Practice is on Sunday evenings at 5:00 so those who may attend another church might be able to come.  It is a great time of fellowship, and the gift of song for our community at Christmas time.  (Practice began September 1, but it is not too late!)

Yes, we have been in existence for 100 years, did they have ribbon cutting ceremonies back then?  It is time Olivet had an official Ribbon Cutting and induction into the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce.  Join us at noon on Tuesday, October 15 and celebrate with us.  A light lunch of sliders will be served.

Olivet has people ministering all over Tulsa and Sand Springs.  If you are interested in serving at John 3:16, Hope Pregnancy Center or The Hub, contact us and we will connect you with the right people!

Take a look around our website to learn more about our small group bible studies at 9:00 Sunday mornings.  There is a place for everyone from infant to not quite so young!  There are often classes held on Sunday evenings on different subjects as well as women's events and men's events and events for youth and children.  On Wednesday evenings we have adult bible study, choir rehearsal, youth and KidzBlitz (K-6th gr) and we have childcare for preschoolers whose parents are involved in a group on campus. There is always something going on at Olivet!
