Galatians 5:13-26

FREEDOM IN CHRIST…

1. MY CALLING. (13-15)

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NLT)

Insight: Freedom is establishing a base of operations for Jesus
            to live His life through me.

“Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” I Corinthians 6:19 (CSB)

2. MY CHOICE. (16-18)

“For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.” Galatians 5:17 (CSB)

Insight: I must fight for my freedom.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)

3. MY CHARACTER. (19-26)

“…I am warning you about these things—as I warned you before—that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:21b (CSB)

“Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:24-25 (CSB)

Insight: My freedom is expressed in becoming like Jesus.
