OVERCOMING FAILURE
The Encounters of Easter - Part 3
April 1, 2020
Matthew 26:69-75
“… Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken, ‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.’ And he went outside and wept bitterly.” Matthew 26:75 (CSB)
Three Principles to build on…
1. I must accept responsibility for my failure.
“…And he went outside and wept bitterly.” Matthew 26:75b (CSB)
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 (ESV)
2. Move from regret to repentance.
“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” II Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV)
“Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways.” Proverbs 20:30 (GN)
3. Trust God with my future.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (CSB)
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (CSB)
