I Kings 18-19
1. ELIJAH’S PROBLEM.
“Then Elijah became afraid and immediately ran for his life. When he came to Beer-sheba that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there, but he went on a day’s journey into the wilderness. He sat down under a broom tree and prayed that he might die. He said, ‘I have had enough! Lord, take my life, for I’m no better than my fathers.’” I Kings 19:3-4 (CSB)
2. GOD’S PRESCRIPTION.
A. The physical. (5-8)
Action Step: Stop neglecting my body.
“Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.” I Corinthians 16:9-10 (CSB)
B. The spiritual. (11-12)
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
Action Step: Make time alone with God.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you…” James 4:8a (CSB)
C. The relational. (9)
“There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’” I Kings 19:9 (CSB)
Action Step: Get in a biblical community.
“Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.” I Kings 19:18 (CSB)
