CAN THE BIBLE BE TRUSTED?

Transformed by the Word - Pt. 2

October 6, 2019

 II Timothy 3:16-17

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”  II Timothy 3:16-17 (CSB)

I can trust the Bible because…

1.  It has textual credibility.

“What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— that life was revealed, and we have seen it and we testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.”    I John 1:1-2 (CSB)

 2.    It has historical credibility.

“In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod was tetrarch[a] of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas…” Luke 3:1-2 (CSB)

 3.    It has scientific credibility.

“Let them praise the name of the Lord! For He commanded and they were created. And He established them forever and ever; He gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.” Psalm 148:5-6 (ESV)

“He stretches the northern skies over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.” Job 26:7 (CSB)

 4.    It has divine credibility.

“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all things are accomplished.” Matthew 5:18 (CSB)

“…The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” I Peter 1:24-25 (CSB)
